Need to lose weight?
It is part of a balanced diet. It’s just not absolutely necessary that you eat meat. Like you said, you can get nutrients from non-animal sources. Most people just choose to get their protein from meat because it tastes good and it’s what they are used to.

I agree. You need protein, not meat. You need calcium, not milk! I think ppl think it’s part of the balanced diet is b/c meat is the easiest way to get protein, milk is the easiest way to get calcium. If you find other ways to get need nutrients than don’t worry what others consider balanced, if you get what you need from your diet, than it is balanced. Way to think outside the box!

Why do people talk of vegetables as a balanced diet? Meat, whether it be red meat, chicken, pork or lamb (and fish)definitely has a place on the dinner table. We don’t advocate meat or denigrate vegans and criticize their habits, you should accord us the same consideration. So you eat what you choose to eat and let us do the same without the preaching. Thank you.
PS Since you brought it up, all the vegans and those who subsist on a vegetable (”natural”) diet look unhealthy…they are pale and have dark brown circles under their eyes…) Not exactly an advertisement for the “vegan” way of life.

because it has protien. u always need some meat on ur body
(say if u were going 2 get a shot from the docter, u must have meat on u in-order 4 that 2 happen). plus its good 2 have a little meat on u, as long ur dont get fat. a feggie diet is bad. a veggie diet, mixed with a regular diet=good. because ur getting protie and veggies all together.

Trust me i know i was one until my mum and doctor saved me from myself and had to force feed me proper food until i was back on track please don’t hurt your self by not eating meat i would never want what happened to me happen to someone else!If animal welfare is stopping you from eating talk to someone in a shop or supermarket and they will give you well kept meat that was brought up well it works for me and i should work for you.

Do you know you can die from not having protein in your system , its called protein poisoning. If your a vegan, well lentils are the best source of protein, and they come in array of colors.

No one has ever said that you have to eat meat or you will die. You are incorrect saying that meat is “not” part of a balanced diet, you choose not to eat meat in order to not kill animals, and that is your every right. Please do not state untrue facts about things you many not fully understand because you choose not to understand the facts. Speak with a nutritionist and they will say that meat “can” be a “part” of a balanced diet if you “choose” to eat meat.
Besides 95% of people do not eat a balanced diet in the first place.

Lots of thumbs-downing in here. I say this as a vegan, but meat actually can be part of a healthy diet. You would need to eat about 1/5 of what the typical American eats, though, and you will be taking on some bad stuff no matter how lean the meat is. (Hormones, antibiotics, parasites, etc.)
A diet that includes meat will never be as healthy as a veg diet.

Depends on the culture you are looking at. Of course you should also balance that with examining the leading causes of death for the culture.
