Well they ate much cleaner, healthier food in general, and were much more active.

So there wasn’t much of a need to diet.

In the old days, I believe being fat was a good thing.
Since it meant you had enough wealth to actually eat.

back in the old days people mostly ate what they grew in their garden and killed their own animals for meat. and alot of them worked out in the fields picking cotton or in factories. there was no air conditioning inside then either. times are alot different. and people worked harder then than they do now.

Back then, obesity wasn’t a big thing. Most meals were cooked at home (fast food was a rare treat) and people went out and did things. People didn’t sit at home and go on the internet all day (I swear, I’m only online at work!!) and watch tv. That’s what the difference is… Lifestyle

    Slim down – remove fat

They ate fresh foods, not the processed crap grocery stores sell now. They cooked everything themselves from scratch; there were no “frozen microwave dinners”. The animals and plants were grown less artificially, and food was sold in raw source. They didn’t sit around all day playing videogames or computer games. The manual labour industries were more common; therefore people actually worked instead of sitting at a desk all day. Children played outside, and families bonded at the park.

They were healthy… they didn’t need to diet. Nowadays, we have so many choices that we can’t always choose the right one… so we rely on the same commercialized crap that made us unhealthy to show us how to get thin.

Healthier food in the old days, No fast food restaurants and no additives. People were much more active, not only with planned exercise but daily chores, running business, farming, etc

They didn’t have to “diet” – they had to survive. They had so much more physical activity than we do these days, they burned lots more calories.

well, in the really old days, being fat was good because it meant you were rich enough to eat.
in the most recent but not so recent old days, not many people were fat because the foods were better for you and people worked off everything they ate in more manual labor jobs.

people didn’t have to diet. stores were not filled with isle after isle of heavily processed foods packed with chemicals to lengthen the shelf life and improve taste. all meals were cooked from scratch and based on whole foods, there were very few high calorie snack foods, etc. that could be purchased in stores. the average person was much also more physically active. everyone except the rich did their own yard work, kids walked to and from school and had gym class daily, played outside for hours when the got home, etc.

the human genome has not changed only the types and amounts of foods that we consume and the amount of energy expended daily.

WELL-in the old days, food was not so plentiful for many families.
There were no fast food places selling junk food ,so meals were eaten at home, and were less fattening. If you go back only 80 to 100 years you would find people doing much more physical labor. Dieting to lose weight would be unbelievable to folks struggling to feed their families.
