I have high cholesterol — what is a reasonable amount of saturated fat?
Sarah asked:
I just found out that my cholesterol is 231 when it should be between 100 and 199. I haven’t seen my doctor yet, but I am wondering what is a reasonable amount/percentage of saturated fat for intake? I know that cutting back on saturated fat will help to lower your cholesterol, but what is a good rule of thumb for the ratio when choosing foods? For example, below 5 grams, no more than 25% of the total fat should be saturated, etc.? Thanks!
