Is it normal to have only diet for two days now and lose three pounds?

kriminyjicket asked:

I have cut back on my calories and taken up exercise 30-60 minutes a day. I weighed in at 134 the other day and now I am at 131 is this normal. Also if I am 28 years old, 131 pounds now, and 5′4 is 914 calories enough for me in a day or am I cutting to much cause heavens I sure am hungry.

The three pounds was likely water weight.

water weight is the first thing to go – if you lost 3 pounds, that’s a good start. Don’t expect to maintain that pace.

Good luck – I’m working on it too and it’s hard!

Your weight can actually fluctuate as much as 5 pounds in a day as you eat, drink, urinate, defecate, and sweat.

Your calorie intake is too low. Please go to and click on My Pyramid Plan on the right-hand side. This will not only tell you how many calories you need; it will tell you how to get them nutritionally. You probably need close to 2000 calories daily to prevent becoming ill as you try to lose weight.

Your height and weight are appropriate for your age, by the way!
